This activity is appropriate for:

You will need:

Small twigs with several branches (one for each child)
Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (in green or fall colors for leaves)

Safety Scissors
Hole punch
Yarn or string
Paper cup
Marker or pen

Directions

Provide each student with a branch or twig.
Have students press a lump of dough firmly into the bottom of their cups.
Tell students to poke the base of their branch or twig securely into the center of their lump of dough so that the branch stands upright.
Have students cut leaf shapes out of the construction paper (or precut leaf shapes and have them available for students to use). Help them label the leaves with the titles and names of their relatives (e.g., Grandpa Robert Jones, Mother Jennifer Jones, Father Michael Jones and so on).
Help students punch a hole in each leaf, loop a length of string through each hole and tie each leaf onto a branch (child’s name along with siblings on one level, then parents, then grandparents) to complete the family tree!
